Since 2016, we have been constantly developing the Civist plugin for WordPress. Over the years, there have been a handful of cases of incompatibility with other plugins or themes.


We always try to customise Civist to avoid such issues in the first place. Still, because of the abundance of available plugins and themes for WordPress, it's impossible to ensure that Civist will always work correctly in every imaginable scenario.


Therefore, here, we list all plugins and themes known to have incompatibilities with Civist and explain if and how to work around them.

Embedpress

Scope: The following issue only occurs if you use Embedpress and Civist with the WordPress Classic Editor. If you use Civist with the WordPress Gutenberg editor, the problem described below is irrelevant.


Problem Source: The cause of the incompatibility is that Embedpress deactivates some of the standard WordPress embedding functions and replaces them with other functions. 


However, the Civist plugin requires these embedding functions to work flawlessly. The result is that the embedded Civist widget (petition or donation form) can be integrated into a page but displays errors when submitting the completed form. 


As a result, no data transfer occurs and signing a petition or donating is not possible.


Solution: To use Civist and Embedpress together, you can embed the Civist petition and donation forms into a page or post via their short code. To do so, please proceed as follows:


  1. Go to "Civist -> Petitions" or "Civist -> Donation Forms" in the WordPress menu.
  2. Click "Edit" on the petition or donation form you want to embed in a page or post.
  3. Scroll to the end at the right editing menu of the form.
  4. Click on "Generate short code".
  5. Copy the generated short code.
  6. Now open your page or post in edit mode.
  7. Paste the short code in the desired place or replace an already inserted form.
  8. Save the page.
  9. Open a preview of the page or post and check the error-free functioning of your form by making a test signature.


Themes

There are no known problems at the moment.

Bekannte Inkompatibilitäten des Civist Plugins mit Plugins oder Themes in WordPress

Seit 2016 entwickeln wir das Civist Plugin für WordPress stetig weiter. Über die Jahre kam es in insgesamt einer Handvoll von Fällen zu Inkompatibilitäten mit anderen Plugins oder Themes.


Wir versuchen Civist immer so anzupassen, dass es zu solchen Problemen gar nicht erst kommt. Jedoch ist es allein aufgrund der Fülle an verfügbaren Plugins und Themes für WordPress unmöglich, sicherzustellen, dass Civist in allen erdenklichen Szenarien immer einwandfrei funktioniert.


Daher führen wir hier alle Plugins und Themes auf, von denen Inkompatibilitäten mit Civist bekannt sind und erklären, ob und wie diese umgangen werden können.

Embedpress

Umfang: Das folgende Problem tritt nur auf, wenn du Embedpress und Civist mit dem WordPress Classic Editor verwendest. Nutzt du Civist zusammen mit dem WordPress Gutenberg-Editor, ist das nachfolgend beschriebene Problem nicht relevant.


Problemquelle: Die Ursache für die Inkompatibilität liegt darin, dass Embedpress einige der Standard-Wordpress-Einbettungsfunktionen deaktiviert und diese mit anderen Funktionen ersetzt. 


Diese Einbettungsfunktionen werden jedoch vom Civist-Plugin benötigt, um einwandfrei zu funktionieren. Das Ergebnis ist, dass das eingebettete Civist-Widget (Petitions- oder Spendenformular) zwar in eine Seite integrierbar ist, aber beim Absenden des ausgefüllten Formulars Fehler anzeigt. 


Dadurch erfolgt keine Datenübertragung und das Unterschreiben einer Petition oder das Spenden sind nicht möglich.


Lösung: Um Civist und Embedpress nebeneinander zu nutzen, können Sie die Civist-Petitions- und Spendenformulare über deren Shortcode in eine Seite oder einen Beitrag einbetten. Bitte gehen Sie dazu wie folgt vor:


  1. Gehe im Wordpress-Menü auf "Civist -> Petitionen" oder "Civist -> Spendenformulare".
  2. Klicke bei dem Petitions- oder Spendenformular auf "Bearbeiten", welches in einer Seite oder in einem Post eingebettet werden soll.
  3. Scrolle am rechten Bearbeitungsmenü des Formulars bis ans Ende.
  4. Klicke auf "Shortcode generieren".
  5. Kopiere den erzeugten Shortcode.
  6. Öffne deine Seite oder deinen Post im Bearbeitungsmodus.
  7. Füge den Shortcode an der gewünschten Stelle ein oder ersetze ein bereits eingefügtes Formular.
  8. Speichere die Seite.
  9. Öffne eine Vorschau der Seite oder des Beitrags und überprüfe das fehlerfreie Funktionieren des Formulars, indem du eine Testunterschrift durchführst.
